We have now recovered from the hectic December! From what you tell us, you have all really enjoyed your Christmas Meat, and we are very happy to hear that.
So now we are into January - it can be a dreary month, but what we all need now is some delicious, warming comfort food. I can definitely recommend some braising beef, or lean diced pork (see special offer page if you are planning to buy some of this). Cooked slowly in the oven, they make a really homely meal.
30th November
We are well into taking our Christmas Orders now, and it feels as though Christmas is coming really fast. It is a very busy time for us, as you might imagine - but we have always got time to help you with your Order, as we appreciate that your Special Dinner deserves our individual attention. Don't forget - all orders should ideally be placed by Saturday 10th December - so we look forward to seeing you very soon if you haven't yet discussed your requirements with us.
17th November
Come and try our new way of serving Pork. We have the new Christmas Pork Roast on the counter ready for you. It uses our usual succulent pork, which is produced here on the farm, and we have prepared a roasting leg joint stuffed with sausage meat, streaky bacon and cranberries. An extra bonus - you still get the crackling you so enjoy.
Just roast in the usual way and enjoy something a little bit different, and a little bit special. Now is a good time to give it a go as we are promoting it at the same price as a plain Pork Leg Roasting Joint.

Well, I do believe the last of the summer has now gone, and we are into windy, chilly autumn days. It is now time for some comfort food - casseroles, slow cooked Lamb Shanks, sausage and mash etc. etc. Sound good? We've got them all ready just for you - come along and enjoy!

Well, it's been a bit of an indifferent summer, weather wise, and now that we are heading into October we might think that BBQ's are done for this year. We might, but we don't have to! The forecast is for 26/27 degrees by the weekend!
We are ready with BBQ products along with all the usual autumn products and look forward to seeing you soon.
We have just had a new delivery of our delicious range of sauces, chutneys and mayonnaise. This means, if you come now, we should have your favourite in stock.

Well, our summer weather has not been so good recently - but there is still hope! But, you need to eat whatever the weather - so it's always worth coming along to see what is on our counter. We keep a close eye on the temperatures, and prepare our meat accordingly! So whether it's bbq weather, casserole weather, roast dinner or steak and chips - we've got it ready! See you soon.

We have been so busy in the shop, I haven't had time to keep you up to date with our news lately! There are obviously lots of BBQ's happening - and several big events which have been enjoying our sausages and burgers.
This weekend is FATHER'S DAY. Don't forget to come and choose his favourite meat and give him a treat - I'm sure he deserves it!

What glorious weather - it goes on and on. Lovely though it is, we do so need a few heavy downpours (preferably overnight!). Lots and lots of BBQ's are being enjoyed over these Bank Holidays - and we are stocking all sorts of delights for your enjoyment. Come and see for yourself!
20th April
New Season Lamb is now ready and waiting for you on our counter! It is tender and delicious - come and get yours for Easter.
We also have some plump Free Range Chickens which are big enough to feed a large house full this Easter.
If the weather is beckoning you outside with the BBQ then you know where to come - we have a great selection of fresh sausages and burgers, along with steaks, ribs, kebabs, koftas and more!
11th April
What fantastic weather we have been enjoying. Last weekend was officially a BBQ weekend I would think, judging by the amount of customers all after their meat to cook in the garden. Sausages and burgers are always popular, but we had a great demand for kebabs, marinated pork steaks and Chinese Spare Ribs as well. But we were ready! Hope you all enjoyed them!

Sunday is Mothers Day - the day to give Mum a treat! What could be better than cooking her a great Sunday Dinner? Mu will always appreciate a lovely Roast, but anything you have shopped for and lovingly cooked will always be appreciated. Don't forget - the best meals come from the best ingredients. So, we will look forward to seeing lots of customers this weekend, choosing their meat to make Mum a special meal.
13th March
Sorry to all our customers who wanted Sausage Rolls last week, but were unfortunately told we had sold out. Obviously it was "sausage roll week" for many, and my usual plentiful stocks were all gone! I promise to make an extra large batch this week, enough to satisfy all your needs, I hope! One customer told me that they are the best sausage rolls in the country! I don't know about that, but I do know they are very good (though I say so myself), and if you haven't tried them yet, you really should!
8th March
Imagine sitting down with friends and family to a lovely plate of Roast Pork, with superb Crackling, served with Sage and Onion Stuffing (well, that's what I like and it makes a delicious accompaniment to more than just chicken and turkey), Apple Sauce (or buy a jar of our fabulous Apple and Ginger Sauce which makes it even more special), Roast Potatoes and/or creamy Mashed Potatoes, Carrots and your favourite Greens. It may not be correct to some, but I also like Yorkshire Puddings with my roast pork. Sound Good?

Yesterday was a very exciting day! Radio Suffolk were talking about Great Barton, and wanting to know all about what was going on in the Village. I telephoned to tell them about Country Farm Meats and our farm. They were very interested, and telephoned me back so that they could talk to me live on air!

With Valentines Day so close, we are preparing lots of ideas for your romantic meals. Beef Steak is always a popular choice at this time of year, and we are well stocked with succulent, tender Rump, Sirloin, Rib-Eye and Fillet. We will also be making Chicken Kiev, Beef Encroute and Pork Cordon Bleu so that you have plenty of choice. All this is, of course, in addition to our usual great display of all types and cuts of meat ready for you.

Mary Portus is promoting good customer service in her current TV series. I hope she (and you) would be very happy with the service we offer to all our customers. We endeavour (and always have done) to treat everyone in just the way she is advocating!

It is almost the end of the season for Pheasants and Partridge. We have fresh Pheasant on the counter this week - so come and get yours while you can!

This week is Farmhouse Breakfast Week - and we know what farmers (and your family) enjoy for Breakfast. So - join the nation, and come and get your delicious home-made sausages, home-cured bacon and large, local free range eggs and enjoy a really good breakfast this weekend.

It's almost a month since my last entry on this page, and the reason for the delay is that we have been so busy, I just haven't had time! Christmas brought in more orders than ever before, which we were very pleased about. Obviously, our reputation for excellent meat is spreading, and from all the many comments we have since received, we know how much you all enjoyed what you had. As usual, we hear so many of you saying that your Turkey was the best you had ever had!
13th December
Well, it has been a whole month since I last put any up to date news in here, and how quickly that time has gone! The main reason, I think, is because we have been so busy taking all your orders for Christmas. We can see from our Orders Book that lots of you are planning a good feast - and why not?
We are looking forward to seeing you all in the next couple of weeks to pick up your orders and stock your fridges and freezers. It is always a good idea to have a choice of meat available over Christmas for midwekk meals, or during bad weather when you can't get out. An extra pack of braising beef, minced beef, sausages, chops and chicken breasts could all be very useful.
Still looking for a present for that someone who seems to have everything - well, you could make up a delicious hamper of sauces, pickles, honey and apple juice from our range - they are just that bit extra special and therefore an ideal choice.
Or - you could give a Country Farm Meats gift voucher.
Our tip on cooking your Christmas Turkey or Chicken - smother some butter and streaky bacon over the top to keep it moist, and give a fabulous flavour. If you want some more cooking tips we recomment www.britishturkey.co.uk who have advice on timing for turkeys, Breast Roasts and Crowns, along with children's activities (including makeing and colouring place names for your Christmas Table) and recipes, to keep the little ones out of mischief!

2nd November
We will start taking our Orders for Christmas 2010 as from tomorrow. As we plan and work out our ordering system yet again, it feels as though it's only 5 minutes ago we were doing this last year! We think we have an excellent method of taking orders and having them ready for our customers on their designated collection day. Although we have so many orders going out, we never expect anyone to queue, even on Christmas Eve, for longer than 10-15 minutes before being served. Come and try it out!
21st October
Half Term is now starting, and the children will be needing extra meals at home. Come along and pick up some sausages or chipolatas, or some (healthy!) chicken nuggets - both of which we make here especially for you!
28th September
We are looking forward to another week - meeting all our customers. We are noticing a swing in the kind of meats and meals as we draw into shorter and cooler days. There are more roasts and casseroles being enjoyed than there was a month ago. Well, they are just what you need this weather. Having said that - we did have one BBQ customer last week. Hope they were warm on Saturday evening in their garden - I was freezing indoors!
22nd September
Wow this weather is fantastic - sadly not forecast to last! Having thought that BBQ's would be finished for this year, our great British Weather has yet again proved any theory wrong! Tom (our butcher) had a BBQ on Tuesday afternoon in lovely warm temperatures in his garden. Well why not, it was warmer than many afternoons in August!
16th September
Well, it's really feeling autumnal now. I fear that BBQ's (except for the most hardy of you, with some kind of outdoor coer and heating!) may be over for this year. Never mind, there will be equally delicous meals to look forward to over the autumn and winter.
With that in mind, we are now producing a multi-pack of diced meat (instead of the BBQ Multi-Packs). This pack includes 1lb of diced pork, 1lb of diced beef and 1lb of diced lamb. These are ideal family meals - some for now and some for the freezer.
Our Sausage Multi-packs continue to be popular, so we are still doing these - well, you can enjoy a sausage meal at any time of the year, can't you?
13th August
One minute we are desperate for rain, and now we are desperate for it to stop raining! It doesn't look good for barbeques this weekend, so we are expecting a good demand for chickens and joints of beef, lamb and pork to roast. We also have fresh Venison on the counter this week - joints, steaks and casserole meat.
22nd July
Showers for Pigs ?! This very hot weather has meant taking extra measures to keep the pigs cool and comfortable. This is when our gentle sprinkler system which sprays a fine cool mist on the pigs is a helpful edition to our animal care.
Anthony and David continue to bring the pig farm into the 21st Century. A new computer recording system is now being used. A wireless handset can load or receive information from the computer in the farm office giving performance details of all the breeding sows.
6th July
You don't often hear me say this, but it has been a realief to have the weather a little cooler today! We can definitely recommend products like Minted Lamb Steaks, Smoky BBQ Pork Steaks, Gammon Steaks ; Stir-fried Chicken and Beef this weather, as they can be cooked under the grill, on the BBQ or in a Wok - all avoiding putting the oven on and heating up the kitchen even more!
This weather also really lends itself to entertaining (you can sit in the garden and not worry about the dust indoors!) so think about who you would like to invite around, and pop in to see us for lots of inspiration to cook a delicious but simple meal you can all enjoy together.
23rd June
This weather is more like it - isn't it? Perfect for the BBQ and we have all the delicious products you need! This week we are making a new chicken, lemon and corriander kebab.
And what about the football - come on England! Our World Cup Whopper is proving very popular. Keep buying (and enjoying) them - maybe the more you eat, the better England will do!
To mark Wimbledon Fortnight, we are making a "bat and ball". Come on in and see how they look!
For those of you who are interested - we do have some small packs of chicken livers and Calves Liver in the freezer. If you would like some, please ask next time you are in the shop.
2nd June
June sees the re-launch of the World Cup Whopper - an extra long Pork and Lager sausage - perfect for a pre or post match BBQ.
Following on from the sausage multi-packs, we are now producing BBQ packs all ready wrapped and waiting for you with an assortment of delicious products for your next BBQ.
New Season Lamb is now available and on the counter. The cold, late spring had made the supply very short, and therefore expensive. As the weather warms up more lambs have been brought to market, therefore weakening the price, so we have now made the swtich from old to new season. We recommend that you try some. There is a recipe for Lamb with tomatoes and Mint just added to the recipes page.
We often supply sausages and burgers for village and school fetes etc. If you are organising an event, ask for a quote. We can also advertise your event on our website, if you give us details.
25th May
What fantastic weather we have just had - did you enjoy a barbeque last weekend?
Even I had a barbeque on Sunday, and I don't get around to that very often! It did take us half an hour to find the long tongs! I love the sunshine, but Peter had to go inside for his pudding because he was too hot. You don't get that very often. We know that lots of you were doing the same because we made (and sold) endless kebabs (I was seeing them in my sleep on Friday night!)
Hopefully, you enjoyed your meals so much that you'll be back for the same again this bank holiday weekend. The weather doesn't promise to be quite as good, but our meat does!
Even if you're not having a BBQ, we will still have all sorts of lovely things ready for you - and don't forget you can always grill any of our bbq products indoors (useful for our weather and for those who are not into barbeques).
As an experiment, we have started to display multi-packs of sausages - 1lb each of 3 different varieties of sausage. This has proved popular, so we will carry on with this. They are an ideal choice, (and a money saver) if you have lots of people coming round for a barbeque, or to make all sorts of family meals with some for now and some for the freezer. Look out for them!
10th May
Have you tried Carol's individually hand made Sausage Rolls yet? They are all ready to be glazed and popped in the oven, where you can watch the pastry puff up to make a decicious hot or cold snack or part of a meal. Don't forget yours next time you are in the shop. (If there aren't any of the counter, they will be in the freezer!)
One customer recently cooked the Creamy Paprika Pork from our Slowly Does It recipe leaflet. It comes highly recommended by them, and is becoming one of their family favourites. Why not try it for yourself?

Welcome to Nicola! She has now joined our team working in the shop, and is looking forward to meeting you. After day one, she commented that all our customers are lovely - but we knew that, didn't we?
15th April
Did you see Jules and Sharpie on the news a couple of days ago. They were preparing goodness knows how many hundreds of pounds of Scotch Bonnet Chillies ready to make their preserves. If watching them has given you an urge to try their products, then you'll be pleased to know that we have some in stock, ready and waiting for you!
We also have our little cart being filled up each week with all sorts of small plants for your garden, pots and tubs. At the moment we have basket plants and all sorts of Fuchsia's (trailing and upright), large penstomen's and trailing geraniums. This stock will increase in both number and variety as we get further into spring, ready for your stunning displays during the summer. Don't forget to stop and have a look on your way into the shop.
14th April
It's lovely to see so many signs of spring - although it does feel as if it keeps coming and going the way the weather can be so warm one day, and then so chilly again the next! But we have already had several bbq-ers in to the shop, mainly last weekend. Let's hope we are in for a good spell of weather so we can all dust off our bbq's and get outside for some al fresco eating.
Some really exciting news - we have been contacted by ITV productions regarding their television programme, "Britain's Best Dish 2010" There have already been 3 very successful series of this programme, and they are now preparing for their 4th. They have contacted us to enquire whether any of our customers would like to attend their auditions on 9th May at Cambridge. Wouldn't it be great to see a Country Farm Meats customer on the telly! So we are now promoting the details of this show in the hope that some of you will be interested. So do you have a Signature Dish, or a unique twist on a classic dish. They are not looking for experienced chefs, just people who are keen to share their cooking with the nation. We have all the details in the shop - so come along and pick up a leaflet. Someone will be on the programme - why not you?
23rd March
We are now taking orders for Easter. It looks as if Legs of Lamb are going to be really popular, but no doubt so will lots of other things! Easter is a great time to get together with family and friends, and to share a special meal. Don't forget to think about what you will be wanting to eat and get your order in to us as soon as you can. Obviously, we don't have endless legs of lamb but we will try our best to have what you want! Anything ordered in advance is always guaranteed.
Isn't it great to have some spring weather at last. We will all be lighting our barbeque's before you know it! We are looking forward to starting to change our counter display from winter menus to lighter spring and summer eating.
3rd March
We have just taken delivery of a new stock of sauces, chutneys and mayonnaise. In addition to the "old favourites" we have a good selection of new products for you to try, including Very Hot Mango Chutney, Hot Mint Jelly and Hot Apple and Sage Jelly.
16th February
The weather remains cold, and I don't much like it!! One consolation is the lovely warming meals you can cook and really enjoy - like a lovely roast dinner, or a warming casserole with dumplings. While you keep your your fuel supply for your central heating topped up, remember to stock up on your meat in the fridge and freezer ready for keeping you warm from the inside out!
2nd February
Enjoy a Valentines Meal at home and avoid the crowded, noisy (and more expensive) restaurants. Steak is always a favourite - (and you can use your Valentines Voucher to take advantage of our special offer on Rump Steak - see our Special Offers Page for details) or you could try a pork Valentine Steak (heart shaped) or a lovely lamb dish - or look out for our Country Cuisine Specials.
Where did January go? I didn't produce an in-shop News Sheet for January, as by the time I've got over Christmas and ready to start on a few "extras" in the shop it's already half way through January, so now that we are just into February, a new News Sheet for this month is available.

Did you realise that all of the pork sold here is produced on our farm only 100 yards away from the shop iteself? The pigs are born, reared and fattened here on food which is mixed and prepared here as well. We do it this way so that we can have otal control of the quality of our pork - and so provide you with succulent and delicious meat, which many of our customers say is unique and the most tasty they have ever eaten!
NEW - Farmer Brown's Rapeseed Oil. This is locally produced and is perfect for roasting, stir-frying, baking and dressings. It is the British alternative to Olive Oil with a very low carbon footprint and is a natural product with no artificial additives.
Goose Fat is not just for Christmas - we have a fresh supply just in so you can have perfect Roast Potatoes all year round!
29th January
To celebrate Farmhouse Breakfast Week, we are having our own Sausage Spectacular this week. We have 6 different variety sausages on the counter - all with 10% off their usual price. Our customers are enjoying the opportunity to try some sausages that they maybe haven't tasted before, or to stock up on their favourites.
15th January
It will soon be Burns Night (25th January) and we have our excellent (Rick Steins Heroes) Haggis on the counter. They are going fast - so come along and get yours now!
14th January
The cold snap continues - I hope you are keeping warm enough! This is the best time for cooking up a cozy casserole. We have some lovely tender braising beef and minced beef, or you could try diced pork or lamb. Cook double quantity, and you will have enough left for another day - we all like an occasional day off cooking (you can't call it cooking when you only have to re-heat!).

Phew! We made it! Hope you had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed all your Country Farm meat. We worked hard to provide you with all your requirements, and hope that you were happy with everything you purchased from us. Unsurprisingly, we were pretty tired by the time we closed the shop on Christmas Eve, but knowing that we were able to think of you enjoying your Christmas Dinners made it all worth while!
So now we are back to normal - whatever that is! Our normal shop hours are now resumed, and our normal high quality meat and game continues to be prepared and available for you - so come and see us soon!

Christmas Orders Make sure you have all you need to make your Christmas Dinner the special occasion it should be by placing your order with us now. We can supply you with the best quality Turkey, Goose, Chicken, Beef or Gammon however big or small you need, along with your bacon, sausages and sausagemeat. We have a full list of ideas for your order in the shop.
Down on the farm Autumn and Spring are the easiest seasons to look after pigs as there are no extremes of heat or cold - both of which can cause problems. We are now preparing for Winter by ensuring all the buildings are warm enough for the pigs.
You can trust us to sell you British Meat (locally produced where possible). Our pork comes from our own farm here, and we make all our own sausages and pork burgers, and cure our own Smoked and Unsmoked bacon from this meat. Beware of labels elsewhere! The country of origin stated on a food wrapper only needs to be where the product last underwent a substantial change. So ham might only have been sliced here but can say it is British! Surprisingly, the phrase British-made means nothing. The pork for those British sausages may have come from Holland, or the chicken from Thailand, they'll simply have both been processed in the UK. None of this is illegal. Labelling rules are voluntary, so they aren't always followed.

A customer came into the shop today, and cheered me up no end. They asked for tripe, and knew we had it because they had read that it was available from looking at and reading this site. So there is someone out there reading this!

Have you joined our "Country Farm Cuisine Club yet? If you have received our email then you are in! No? Let us have your email address and you too can become a member, which will give you priority notice of news and Special Offers and sometimes Cuisine Club Only Special Offers and privileges.
Christmas is Coming! and lots of our customers are already asking about placing their orders. We will be taking orders from 4th November so start thinking about what you might want, and tell your friends where to come to order their Free Range Turkeys, Chickens, Geese, Gammons, Sausages, Sausage Meat, Bacon Etc.
Fancy a Steak? but afraid your cooking will spoil it? Ask in store for our leaflet showing how to cook tender steak just how you like it.
Down on the Farm we should have ploughed and drilled next years crop of wheat by now, but the dry weather has made this impossible. As soon as we get enough rain, you will see us out on the fields in ernest.
Tip from the Butchers Block If you are planning a special event, and have specific needs for your meat - give us a ring to order it so that you are not disappointed. We are giving away money-off vouchers! When you call in for your meat, and spend £20 or more, we will give you a £2 money off voucher to spend at your next visit. These days, we can all use a little help to make our money go a bit further, and this scheme will certainly do that. Every time you spend £20 or more you will get another voucher - you could be saving money every time you visit!

We have fresh tripe available in the shop this week. I know this isn't to everyone's taste, but if you are among those who enjoy it, then come and get some (it isn't readily available everywhere, so take the opportunity while you can!)

Well, it is really beginning to feel as if autumn may be here today. It feels more like roast dinner and casserole weather than barbeque's! Make your comfort food the best it can be by coming to our farm shop for your meat, where you will find an excellent selection of every kind of meat you can imagine, prepared just the way you like it.

Hasn't the weather been great here in East Anglia during August? Plenty of opportunity for BBQ's!
Well, it's a Bank Holiday Weekend and the forecast is for this good weather to continue. So, don't forget to come along and get all the meat you need to enjoy your holiday and get together with family and friends. We are told by our ever reliable weather forecasters(!) that we should be in for a lovely sunny weekend, and an even hotter week to follow.
Don't forget to stock up on all your BBQ products so you are ready to sit out and enjoy your outdoor meals in your garden.
We had a customer very recently who purchased all they needed for a really good BBQ, and told us that the supermarket meats for BBQ's may be a little bit cheaper, and look good, but they just don't have the fabulous taste and tenderness that they enjoy. That is why they like to buy all their BBQ meat from us.
So come along and check out our extensive range of BBQ products, from the simple and ever popular sausages and burgers, or our marinated kebabs, pork steaks, spare ribs and minted lamb chops. Beef Steak is always good on the BBQ. If you want an alfresco roast, we can prepare a whole Chicken or Belly Pork or Leg of Lamb so it is right ready for you to pop onto the BBQ.
So, get some quality meat to enjoy, light up and get it on to cook, then sit back (maybe with a glass of wine!) and relax. You've had a hard week, so now indulge yourself!

After an intensive 2 hours tuition from my web-savvy friend who has always edited this website for me, I (Carol) have now been given the know-how (he hopes!) to take over. So watch out- who knows what will happen now!
